This stunning opal diamond lavaliere necklace is adorned with a large crescent moon pendant from the Victorian era, fashioned in 18ct yellow gold with alternating natural opals and old European cut diamonds graduating from each tip. The natural opal cabochons exhibit a vibrant medley of green, blue and orange embers that shift and change with the light (approx. 0.08 - 0.80ct). They’re complemented beautifully by the diamonds that are extremely bright and full of life, graded VS1 clarity – H/I colour (approx. 0.06 - 0.50ct).
Celestial jewellery became increasingly sought after during the 19th Century with crescent moons representing femininity and new beginnings, echoing the growing movement toward female empowerment. Opals also symbolised luck, creativity, and passion and were often contrasted with the twinkle of diamonds, creating a captivating display reminiscent of the Aurora Borealis dancing across a starry sky.
