A gorgeous antique Victorian opal five-stone ring, made in Chester in the year 1900. The ring displays a row of five natural cabochon opals, that graduate in size from 0.10 - 0.40ct (approx. 1ct total) and exhibit a magical palette of colours, with bright flashes of blue, green, purple and orange burning beneath the surface.
Opal is the birthstone of October and is considered a stone of luck and passion. It has been revered throughout history for its enchanting rainbow of colours that flow and dance across the surface of the stone, evoking the natural beauty of planet Earth or the Aurora Borealis.
The piece is modelled in 18ct gold and bears clear Chester hallmarks within the band, along with the maker’s mark “W&HL”. It’s a fabulous late Victorian ring from the turn of the 20th Century, set with a beautiful rainbow of vivid opals that spread over the finger.
