Details
This exquisite antique Victorian paste cross pendant is decorated with an array of chunky old cut paste stones across the front, skilfully cut with bright, glittering facets that mimic a diamond. The open-work gallery is expertly crafted in silver and made up of scrolling, foliate motifs, with milgrain bezel settings for the largest pastes.
Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass that has been used throughout history to simulate the beauty of gemstones. Masterfully cut by skilled craftsmen, the finest examples capture the cut, colour, and brilliance of natural gems with remarkable accuracy, often achieving a sparkle that rivals the real thing.
Dating to the late 19th Century, this fabulous paste cross pendant has remained in excellent condition. A fabulous Victorian treasure, it exudes historic charm and sits flat against the chest, with the pastes glittering delicately in the light.
