A glamorous antique Victorian riviere necklace, lined with chunky old cut paste stones that graduate in size toward the bottom. They have an icy white sparkle and each is claw set in a sterling silver link with an 18ct gold bottom and box clasp at the end, complete with a safety chain and two more pastes on top. 

Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass that has been used since ancient times to simulate the beauty of gemstones. The art of cutting paste takes expert craftsmanship and the highest quality stones are often able to replicate the cut, colour and sparkle of natural gems to near perfection.

This is a beautiful Victorian riviere necklace from the late 19th Century. It’s all in excellent condition, with a glittering array of quality pastes along the length.
