Details
An exquisite antique Victorian pendant/ brooch crafted in rich 18ct yellow gold. The piece is built around a fabulous work of art, depicting a charming nature scene of two birds and a nest of eggs, surrounded by blue and pink forget-me-nots. It’s been skilfully hand-painted on porcelain with a vibrant palette of colours and remains intact and in pristine condition.
In the Victorian era, forget-me-nots symbolised love, loyalty, and remembrance, often gifted between family or spouses. The nest and birds further evoke themes of family, protection, and unity, with the promise that they will remain together and always return home to the nest.
The Portrait is securely set in an ornate gold frame, featuring intricate metalwork, scrolling flourishes and gold beading, with three long droppers dangling from the bottom, finished with gold pommels and a flower motif.
Dating to the mid 19th Century, this sentimental Victorian gold pendant/ brooch has been lovingly preserved across the centuries. The perfect antique gift for a loved one, it can be worn as either a pendant or brooch, with the pin at the back joining with the bale at the top so it can be un-hooked to open and lock securely.
