Sapphire is the birthstone of September. The blue variety is considered a stone of truth, wisdom and protection and has long been a favourite of kings and royalty, adored for its royal blue colouring which was considered a reflection of the sky and the heavens, making it divine.
This would make a stunning sapphire engagement ring. It dates to the late 19th Century and displays a beautiful cluster of precious gems on top.
