Details
A wonderful antique Victorian scarab beetle pendant, carved from a large piece of clear rock crystal with expertly cut facets that catch and scatter the light beautifully. At its centre rests a polished cabochon citrine scarab, its warm orange tone glowing against the crystal, complete with delicate silver legs beneath and a matching silver bale above.
Egyptian-inspired jewellery enjoyed a revival in the late 19th century, sparked by a wave of archaeological discoveries that captivated Europe. Scarabs were one of many popular motifs and were a symbol of renewal and rebirth in ancient Egypt.
Dating to the 19th Century, this charming Victorian rock crystal scarab pendant remains in excellent condition. It’s a wonderfully unique, highly collectable antique that would look perfect suspended from a chain once more.
