This exquisite antique Victorian solid Gold Scottish Cairngorm shield pendant is Circa 1860.
Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her frequent trips to Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral from the mid 1800s.
The wonderful pendant is adorned with beautiful Cairngorm stones with a large 8ct Cairngorm displayed in the centre.
Cairngorm is a type of Quartz found in the Cairngorm mountain range in Scotland. It is most commonly yellow/ brown in colour and shines with radiant beauty.
The pendant is topped with a beautiful engraved crown set with Garnet’s and Pearls.
The Garnet has been adored throughout history for it’s deep red colouring that resembles a Pomegranate. It is said to be a stone of purity, truth and a symbol of love and compassion.
The brooch is all set in an 18ct Yellow Gold shield gallery with a hinged bale that articulates back and forth.
This is a truly fabulous Scottish brooch complete with Scottish ‘Kite mark’ too.
The pendant is steeped in history, a magnificent collectors item.
