A wonderful Antique Victorian Scottish brooch featuring an engraved shield adorned with a sword, topped with a crown with a crossed axe and sword behind.
Scottish Granite stones have also been cut and placed to decorate the brooch and have lovely natural patterning with grey and salmon pink colouring.
Scottish jewellery grew in popularity in the mid- 1800s as Queen Victoria’s frequent trips to her Scottish Castle Balmoral saw her return with Scottish souvenirs and jewellery which influenced the trend in Britain.
The piece is modelled in Silver with intricate engraved detailing across the crown and weaponry. It is an exquisite piece and steeped in history.
