Product Details
A sweet antique Victorian locket from the late 1800s featuring beautiful blue and white enamel artistry across the front with a pink rose in the centre, haloed by a wreath of ivy.
Ivy was a popular motif on Victorian lockets as it represented an unbreakable bond, as in the Victorian rhyme “Close clings the ivy to the tree, so in my heart I cling to thee”. Similarly, a pink rose is also associated with love and happiness, making the two the perfect pairing on the face.
The shell is modelled in silver with intricate chased patterning on the back, along with the name “Maude” etched in the centre. It’s suspended from a wonderful silver rope twist chain complete with a secure box clasp.
The piece was clearly very dear to its original owner and is in excellent condition, with original rims and windows within, along with two photographs of finely dressed Victorian gentleman, possibly brothers or a father and son.
