This lovely antique Victorian snake brooch is sculpted with the serpent’s body wrapped around itself, symbolising eternity. It has been crafted with a twisted pattern that extends along the entire length of the snake, ending with the snake’s head with two red eyes.
Serpent jewellery was popular in Victorian times, after Prince Albert gifted the young queen Victoria with a serpent ring during their courtship. The snake came to symbolise an enduring love and friendship.
This is a wonderful historic piece to be treasured.
