This fabulous antique 9ct Gold Victorian Amethyst Spider brooch is Circa 1900.
Insect or spider jewellery today is highly collectable and was a symbol of good luck to the wearer during the Victorian Era.
The wonderful brooch is adorned with a large 2.80ct Amethyst with a smaller Aquamarine crowning the head.
Amethyst has been highly esteemed throughout the ages for its stunning beauty which has adorned regal jewellery all around the world, from ancient Egypt to the British crown jewels.
The Aquamarine is adored for it’s beautiful clear Ocean blue colour which complements most skin types. The stone was once believed to be the treasure of Mermaids, and was used as a token of happiness and good fortune.
The brooch is hallmarked 9ct Yellow Gold on the reverse and has turned a lovely Rosy hue with age.
This is a beautifully unique brooch which is steeped in Victorian history, a true collectors piece!
