This fabulous Antique Suffragette necklace is genuine Victorian, Circa 1900.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery was chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking!
The necklace is adorned with rich green and pink gemstones which have been tested as Tourmalines.
Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes.
There isn't any white in this necklace but this was sometimes the case as the Suffragettes were discreet.
Tourmaline represent a love of humanity and carries the virtue of unconditional love and friendship. The gemstones can be found in all colours of the rainbow and are considered to be one of today's most versatile gemstones.
The necklace is set in 18ct Gold gilt with a secure clasp, crowned with a larger pink Tourmaline.
