A remarkable antique Etruscan revival collar from the mid-Victorian era (Circa 1860). The piece consists of an articulated, 15ct gold snake chain which is silky smooth and decorated with chain festoons between five domed droppers, each encrusted with sky-blue turquoise and complemented by rope borders and love knots.
Etruscan revival pieces were crafted in the late 1800s after ancient Etruscan jewellery was unearthed in tombs outside of Rome, beginning a fascination with the style and giving birth to these beautiful pieces which were crafted in the same grand and elaborate fashion.
It’s remained in pristine condition and has a substantial weight and elaborate workmanship that is truly exceptional. It will look magnificent draped around the neck and is held by an engraved tube clasp at the back.
We recommend you insure for £4,300. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
