A wonderful antique Victorian vinaigrette book locket fashioned in silver and gilded in 15ct yellow gold. It features intricate, scrolling patterning embossed around the border with further foliate motifs and flowers chased within the centre panels.

The locket opens to reveal a floral, open-work grille within that would have traditionally contained a small sponge soaked in a scented perfume or sometimes aromatic herbs such as sage and lavender to create a pleasant aroma that follows you throughout the day.  

It’s a highly collectable piece of history and can be used as a container for scented perfume as it was originally intended or can be re-purposed to hold photographs or other keepsakes.
