A grand antique Victorian necklace made up of fancy links and a large pendant all modelled in Whitby Jet. Whitby Jet was brought to the attention of the world by Queen Victoria who used the material as part of her mourning attire. Jet is a type of brown coal, a fossilised wood from an ancient tree which today is highly collectable and sought after worldwide. The pendant features a lovely detailed Cameo portrait with intricate high relief workmanship of a person wearing a unique headdress. The necklace has been beautifully crafted and is steeped in history.
