Details
A magnificent, animated bee brooch inspired by the vibrant insect jewellery of the early 20th century. Expertly crafted in silver and 18ct gold vermeil, it is encrusted with sparkling rose-cut diamonds (approx. 1.8ct total), vivid blue sapphires (approx. 5.2ct total), and two lively green peridot eyes (approx. 0.10ct each). The sapphires display a rich royal-blue hue and are a combination of oval and pear cuts, with a border of calibre-set French-cut sapphires tracing the wings.
The popularity of insect jewellery flourished during the early 20th century, driven by the Art Nouveau movement's celebration of nature and a renewed appreciation for the natural world in an increasingly industrialised age. Bees, butterflies, and beetles became enduring symbols of transformation, rebirth and beauty, brought to life through colourful gemstones and exceptional craftsmanship.
Adding remarkable charm, the bee features articulated wings and back legs that gently wobble and flutter with movement, creating an enchanting sense of life. A secure pin and locking clasp on the reverse allow it to be worn confidently on a dress, scarf or jacket lapel, making it both a captivating conversation piece and an elegant statement jewel.
