Details
An exquisite 22ct Yellow Gold band ring depicting black enamelled images of a full skeleton and cross bones which stretch around the entire band.
The ring is an Antique from the late Victorian era and fully hallmarked and dated 1900. It has been re-enamelled more recently though to represent the Memento Mori style.
Memento mori is Latin for ‘Remember that you have to die’. This style of jewellery was popular in the 18th and 19th Century and was decorated with skulls, crossbones and coffins which seem macabre today but these pieces were a reminder to cherish each waking day.
The piece is all solid 22ct Gold and has a good heavy weight to it. It’s truly extraordinary and would make a unique wedding band for either sex.
