A striking vintage amethyst ring from the mid-20th century, claw set with an impressive 5 carat oval-cut amethyst solitaire, its luxurious deep-violet hue glowing beautifully against an open-work 9ct yellow gold gallery, featuring a wavy, interlaced outer frame.
Amethyst’s regal purple-violet hue has been a favourite of kings and royalty throughout history and was said to provide clarity, protection, and wisdom to the wearer. Legend also links Saint Valentine to the stone, as he was said to have worn an amethyst ring carved with Cupid, making it the birthstone for February and a popular Valentine's gift as well.
