A majestic vintage peacock brooch decorated with an array of lustrous cultured pearls of various sizes that graduate out from the body and across the peacock’s large and extravagant tail feathers.
Pearls are the birthstone of June and a true treasure of the ocean, produced organically by fresh and saltwater molluscs. Their spherical shape and exceptional lustre have long been associated with the beauty of the moon and are symbolic of purity, serenity, and loyalty.
The piece is a wonderful open-work design with fine milgrain detailing. It's modelled entirely in 14ct gold and fitted with a pin and safety catch on the reverse. It's in excellent condition and a great character piece.
