An ingeniously designed Egyptian-inspired snake collar, consisting of a thick, expandable band, cased in sunny 9ct yellow gold. It’s lovely and smooth, slithering fluidly with the serpent's engraved head and tail uniting at the bottom, with pink ruby eyes crowned upon the head.
Egyptian-style snake jewellery saw a revival in the 20th Century after an abundance of archaeological discoveries, most notably the discovery of King Tutankhamun’s tomb, brought about a fascination and desire for Egyptian-themed pieces across the globe. The depiction of a serpent biting or joining with its own tail is also a popular token of love, symbolising eternity.
This 9ct gold snake collar is expertly made and a wonderful statement piece, held by a secure push-release box clasp at the end, complete with a safety catch and Birmingham hallmarks, dating to 1994.
