A stylish 1920s Albert chain, composed of solid yellow gold curb links, each stamped 375/ 9ct. Fully hallmarked, the piece was crafted in London in 1926 and bears the sponsor's mark MPC throughout. The chain retains its original dog-clip clasps and T-bar drop and has been enhanced with a traditional decorative fob at the end - a later addition hallmarked London 1979 - featuring a striking jet-black onyx seal.
Dating to a fascinating period in British history, the original owner of this chain may have been reading newspaper reports of the new royal baby, a young Princess Elizabeth, marvelling at the newly invented "televisor", or passing the first iconic red telephone kiosks appearing on Britain's streets. Pieces such as this offer a tangible connection to a rapidly changing world between the two great wars.
