A beautiful antique paperclip link chain made in France in the early 20th Century (Circa 1920). The paperclip links are fashioned in sterling silver and decorated with striped niello artistry with 18ct yellow gold links in between to create a striking, two-tone effect.
Niello is a black metallic alloy that is used to fill an etched or engraved metal base to create a fabulous, decorative effect. The technique has been used for Centuries, dating back to ancient Rome and is extremely durable and stands the test of time.
It’s a lovely, long chain measuring 24.4 inches and is held by a ring clasp at the end.
