Details
An exquisite antique Art Nouveau brooch from the Victorian era depicting a wonderful Scarab Beetle which is beautifully engraved with wings out stretched at each side.
Scarabs were popular symbols in Ancient Egypt and represented renewal and regeneration. In the 1820s King Tutankhamen’s tomb was discovered in Egypt and brought new interest to Scarab jewellery which was worn as a good luck charm across Europe.
The top of the beetle features red Garnet eyes and a line of sparkling Paste Stones set in Silver. The rest of the gallery is Gold Gilt and fitted with a large pin at the back and a safety chain for extra security when worn. It’s a great talking piece and very unique.
