Details
Dating to the early 1900s, this silky antique Edwardian Albert chain consists of graduated curb links, each with a muted yellow gold patina and “375/ 9ct” stamp to verify their quality. It measures 15 inches and retains its original T-bar, adorned with Birmingham hallmarks and the maker’s mark J.M, along with one original claw clasp and a new spring ring clasp added to the end.
The classic Albert chain was both a fashionable and practical accessory for a gentleman in the 20th Century, often adorned with a pocket watch or fob and secured to the buttonhole of a waistcoat. In later years, they found new meaning when the wives of soldiers during WWI began wearing them as keepsakes, keeping a tangible link to their loved ones close to their hearts.
This timeless Edwardian gold Albert chain is stylish and versatile and can be worn as a traditional Albert or as a chic necklace, perfect for layering with other gold chains in your collection.
We recommend you insure for £2,500. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
