Modelled in solid 9ct gold, this classic antique Edwardian Albert chain consists of graduated curb links, its original T-bar, claw clasps and a few extra links at the end, traditionally used to hold a fob or medallion. Each link has developed a desirable rosy-gold patina over time and is stamped “375/ 9ct”, with Birmingham hallmarks dating the piece to 1915.
Albert chains were both a fashionable and practical accessory for a gentleman in the 20th Century, often adorned with a pocket watch or fob and secured to the buttonhole of a waistcoat for quick access. Today they’re also worn as versatile and stylish necklaces; a custom started by the wives of soldiers during WW1 who wore the chains as a keepsake.
This luxurious Edwardian Albert chain is perfect for layering with other gold chains or worn alone as a statement piece or watch chain. It’s a particularly fine example, with a good weight and muted rose gold hue.
