Details
A grand antique Edwardian Albert chain, made up of graduated, solid gold curb links, each stamped “375/ 9ct”. It has developed a desirable rosy hue with age and features a classic T-bar and claw clasps, with an extension of chain at the end holding a crest medallion and rotating Victorian fob with carnelian and speckled bloodstone seals.
Albert chains were both a fashionable and practical accessory for a gentleman in the early 20th Century and were often adorned with a personalised fob, which could be engraved with an identifiable image or monogram and stamped in sealing wax on important letters or documents.
This substantial antique Albert chain has a good weight and pleasing patina and can be worn as a traditional Albert or as a stylish statement necklace. It’s complete with Chester hallmarks, dating to the very beginning of the era (1901), with a Birmingham-stamped medallion (1908) and Victorian fob (1897) added later to the piece.
We recommend you insure for £3,250. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
