Details
This grand antique Edwardian Albert chain is crafted in solid sterling silver, featuring robust, chunky curb-links, each bearing authentic British sterling lion passants. The chain is complete with its original dog clips and T-bar, assayed in Birmingham in 1918 and stamped with the prestigious mark of Frank William Cole, with a large shield fob medallion suspended from a drop chain at the end, stamped Chester 1903.
Each component of this Albert chain tells a poignant story of homecoming. Produced in the final year of the Great War in 1918, when silver was scarce, it likely celebrated a veteran's safe return home to civilian life. The pairing with an older fob, engraved with laurels for victory, suggests it was passed down from a father and worn proudly as a medal of honour.
Preserved in excellent condition, this heavy Albert chain boasts a bright, authentic patina that only a century of history can create and likely has a wonderful story behind it. A perfect acquisition for the discerning collector that can be worn as a traditional watch chain or as a bold statement choker necklace.
