A grand antique Edwardian Albert chain, made up of solid sterling silver curb links, each stamped with a sterling Lion mark and gilded in a sunny 18ct yellow gold. The chunky links graduate in size toward the middle and join two claw clasps at each end, with the classic T-bar suspended from the bottom.
Albert chains were both a fashionable and practical accessory for a gentleman in the 20th Century, often adorned with a pocket watch or fob and secured to the buttonhole of a waistcoat for quick access. Today they’re also worn as versatile and stylish necklaces; a custom started by the wives of soldiers during WW1 who wore the chains as a keepsake.
This timeless Edwardian Albert chain dates to the early 1900s and has a substantial weight and beautiful yellow gold bloom. It can be worn as a traditional Albert or as a chic statement necklace.
