Product Details
An impressive antique Edwardian black opal cocktail ring from the early 20th Century, boasting a magnificent cabochon black opal bulging from the centre. It weighs approx. 25 carats and is haloed by twenty sparkling old European-cut diamonds, totalling approx. 2ct.
Black Opal is the most highly prized of its kind, with its darker colouration creating flashes of colour that are much starker and more radiant. This opal is like nothing we’ve seen before. It has a dark, shadowy surface, but in direct light, burning green and red embers illuminate underneath and flow across the stones domed surface, like the elusive Aurora Borealis against the night sky.
The enormous gallery is fashioned in silver, with an open-work, basket under gallery at the back that joins a 15ct yellow gold band. It’s a spectacular antique statement ring, all in excellent condition, with a spellbinding natural opal on top that is sure to captivate all who look upon it.
We recommend you insure for £11,500. We can provide a written Valuation on completion of the sale.
