A beautiful antique Edwardian Suffragette ring C. 1910, set with a violet Amethyst flanked by two green Peridots and four sparkling Diamonds.
Suffragettes liked to be depicted as feminine, their jewellery popularly consisted of Violet, Green and White colours which were chosen to counter the stereotypes put forward by opponents that they were mannish or shrieking! Green is for Give, white is for Women and violet is for Votes!
The gallery is stamped 18ct Yellow Gold with lovely engraved shoulders. There is a slight mark on the back of the shank where the ring has previously been sized but this is only minimal.
A highly collectable piece of Suffragette history and extremely beautiful.
