Details
A glamorous pair of antique French diamond dropper earrings, each fashioned in 18ct gold. The diamonds have excellent SI1 clarity – H colour and the largest are old European cut, weighing approx. 0.45ct each, claw set in a swinging dropper, with a second smaller diamond crowned above (approx. 1ct total across both).
During the 19th and early 20th Century, old cut diamonds were considered the highest quality with skilfully hand-cut facets that were said to gently dance by candlelight. They may be less flashy by modern standards, but their rugged aesthetic and distinctive fire are unlike any machine-cut stones made today and evoke the romance and skilled craftsmanship of a bygone era.
These dainty diamond dropper earrings were made in France in the early 1900s and are complete with secure lever-back hooks, stamped with a French 18ct Eagle hallmark. A wonderful pair for a wedding or glamorous occasion, exhibiting four beautiful natural diamonds that twinkle elegantly in the light.
