A sweet, little antique Edwardian clover brooch made by Charles Horner in 1902. The piece consists of three heart cut paste petals with a regal-purple hue that resembles an amethysts. They’re set in sterling silver frames, with a silver ball and stem curling out from the centre.
Charles Horner was a celebrated Art Nouveau designer in the late 19th and early 20th Century, specialising in distinct silver and enamel pieces that were inspired by the beauty and complexity of the natural world.
Clovers have long been associated with luck and good fortune and each leaf is said to represent faith, hope and love. Amethyst is the birthstone of February and the stone of Saint Valentine, making it a popular token of romance, love and commitment.
It’s a highly collectable antique brooch, in excellent condition and complete with Chester hallmarks and the maker’s mark on the back.
