Product Details
A colourful antique Suffragette pendant from the early 1900s made in the Art Nouveau style with flowing, ribbon-like motifs decorated with white seed pearls, two violet garnets and two green peridots.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”
The pendant is fashioned in 9ct gold and fitted with a loop and pin at the back so it can be worn as a pendant or brooch. It’s a wonderful design, in excellent condition and accompanied by a new 9ct gold cable chain to display it on.
