Product Details
A beautiful antique Edwardian pendant made in support of the women’s Suffrage movement in the early 20th Century. The pendant has a wonderful, open-work design with a wreath of green peridots, white seed pearls and two violet almandine garnets.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”
The pendant is fashioned in 9ct gold and is accompanied by a fine 9ct chain to display it on. A wonderful and rare piece of history exhibiting a colourful array of semi-precious gems.
