Product Details
A beautiful antique Suffragette pendant from the early 1900s decorated with white seed pearls, a violet almandine garnet dropper (approx. 0.70ct) and a rare deep, green garnet in the centre (approx. 1ct).
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”
The piece has a fabulous Art Nouveau design with open workmanship and flowing, foliate motifs fashioned in 15ct gold. It’s very sweet and a wonderful piece of history with a colourful collection of gems.
