Product Details
A majestic antique lavaliere necklace from the early 1900s featuring a fabulous 9ct gold Art Nouveau style pendant consisting of open, scrolling metalwork that branches out to join a 9ct cable chain. It’s decorated with an assortment of topaz in various cuts and sizes with subtle green, white and violet hues.
Jewellery displaying the colours green, violet and white were often worn in support of the Women’s Social and Political Union (WSPU) which was at the forefront of the UK suffrage movement in the early 1900s. They adopted these three colours to highlight their key virtues: Violet for Royalty, White for Purity and Green for Hope, and also formed the phrase “Give Women Votes!”
It's very pretty and a wonderful design that truly captures the beauty and craftmanship of the period which was aptly known as the “Beautiful era”.
