Product Details
This fabulous antique French Belle Époque Necklace was made during the Victorian era, Circa 1890.
The Belle Époque, or the ‘Beautiful era’ spanned three distinct jewellery periods from 1890 -1915. This was a time of increasing wealth and flourishing arts across western society with Belle Epoque pieces worn as a sign of wealth and status.
The stunning necklace is made up of pretty links decorated in white and pink Paste Stones leading to a fabulous pink Paste dropper.
Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones. White Pastes sparkle just like Diamonds and take expert craftsmanship to capture their beauty.
The necklace also features lovely Silver Bow links and Fleur-de-lis motifs.
A Fleur-de-lis is an iconic symbol of France depicting a stylised lily. The motif is commonly used by the Catholic church and the French monarchy as a religious and political symbol.
The necklace is set in Silver and hallmarked ‘800’ on the reverse.
This is a truly stunning antique necklace that’s steeped in French history, a real statement piece!
