This fabulous antique French Lion’s head brooch was made during the Victorian era, Circa 1860.
The wonderful head of the lion is decorated in sparkling white Paste Stones with a wonderful red Coral stone displayed in the Lion’s mouth along with a segment of white bone.
Paste is a transparent flint glass that simulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones. White Pastes sparkle just like Diamonds, captivating the allure of natures beauty.
The eye and nose of the Lion are set with deep black Onyx stones which were once believed to be a stone of protection that could defend against adversaries in conflict.
The brooch is set in Sterling Silver and fitted with a sturdy pin and safety catch.
Complete with French hallmarks on the reverse.
This is a wonderful French piece, highly collectable and looks stunning when worn!
Weighs 22 grams.
Measures 51mm across x 53mm down.
