Details
This regal amethyst diamond cluster ring centres on a monumental oval-cut amethyst (approx. 18ct), boasting a deep velvet purple hue. It’s haloed by twelve hand-cut old mine diamonds (approx. 0.96ct total), set in traditional crimped silver collets, with a gold frame for the amethyst. The antique gallery and stones date to the late Georgian era (circa 1830) and may have started out as a grand brooch. They have since been thoughtfully married to a decorative 18ct yellow gold band, featuring ornate engraving around the outside to keep with the Georgian aesthetic.
In the 19th century, the amethyst represented devotion and piety, while the diamond halo symbolised strength and eternity, making this ring a powerful emblem of everlasting love. Legend also links Saint Valentine to the stone, as he was said to have worn an amethyst ring carved with Cupid, making it the birthstone for February and a popular Valentines gift as well.
A rare find in excellent condition, this amethyst diamond ring is the ultimate statement piece, best worn solo as a magnificent cocktail ring, this heirloom invites you to carry a piece of history on your hand, promising to be the conversation starter of every room you enter.
