This fabulous antique Georgian ring is set in 18ct Yellow Gold with a wonderful rich green Paste stone that has a deep Emerald coloured glow. Circa 1750,18th Century.
Freshwater pearls chase around the outer gallery. The pearls have a lovely warm rich silky lustre with a rich creamy tone, they are lovely lustrous and natural, a pearl is composed of calcium carbonate in minute crystalline form, which has been deposited in concentric layers.
Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones because it has relatively high indices of refraction and strong dispersion, The Romans in particular were very skilful in the production of coloured - glass pastes.
This ring has a closed backed gallery in 18ct Gold.
Steeped in English history, purchased in London.
