This fabulous Georgian mourning ring is set in 18ct Yellow Gold, Circa 1790.

Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions that are reflected in these stunning pieces of Georgian jewellery.

It is decorated with an Enamel gallery, with more Enamel details that chase around the outer gallery.

On the inside it is engraved the initials ‘D.W.H’ died 30th September 1844’ the front window has a crystal section with plaited hair underneath.

Mourning jewellery mirrored the lives and times of the people who wore it. It was a souvenir to remember a loved one, a reminder to the living of the inevitability of death, a status symbol, especially during the Victorian Era.

The ring shows beautiful all round workmanship.
