This wonderful rare antique Silver Fede ring is a genuine Georgian piece Circa 1780.
Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. This extended period gave rise to many fashions and styles that are reflected in these stunning pieces of jewellery.
The ring depicts two holding hands at the front which unclasp as the ring comes away to reveal two intertwined hearts underneath.
When two hands meet upon a ring and are held in friendship and love this is a Fede Ring. The design dates back to Roman times with the Italian name meaning ‘hands clasped in faith’.
One can only imagine the joy of the wearer of this particular ring, and the romance of years gone by.
The ring is all set in Silver and boasts fabulous Georgian workmanship engraved all the way around the shank.
