Details
An exquisite antique paste pendant from the early 19th Century decorated with an array of clear glass paste stones that sparkle like diamonds. It’s crafted skilfully in silver and has a fabulous open-work design with scrolling, foliate motifs and a dropper swinging in the centre.
Paste is a heavy, transparent flint glass that has been used throughout history to simulate the beauty of gemstones. The art of cutting paste takes expert craftsmanship and the highest quality stones are often able to replicate the cut, colour and sparkle of natural gems to near perfection.
A fabulous antique statement piece, this ornate paste pendant has remained in excellent condition and is accompanied by a long black ribbon to display it on, which was a popular fashion trend in the 19th century but would look equally beautiful on a silver chain.
