This spectacular Georgian Fleur de Lyes yellow Topaz ring is, Circa 1800.

The beautiful yellow Topaz is approx. 7ct with glistening Paste Stones set into the Fleur de Lyes set into a Silver gallery.

The fleur de lyes is a stylised Lily that is used as a decorative design or motif, and many of the Catholic saints of France, particularly St. Joseph, are depicted with a lily.

Due to its age, Georgian jewellery is quite rare, with some pieces almost three hundred years old. From 1714 until 1837 four King Georges and a short-lived William gave rise to this extended period, spanning many fashions.

Topaz has a history that goes back at least two thousand years. The use of topaz goes back to Egyptian times when the ancient Egyptians believed that yellow topaz received its golden hue from the Sun God, Ra.

Through the years this may have been part of a necklace which has been converted over the years.

Paste is a heavy, very transparent flint glass that stimulates the fire and brilliance of gemstones.
