An exquisite Antique locket crafted in 18ct Yellow Gold during the mid Victorian era, Circa 1880. It features fabulous indented vertical stripes along the front and back with decorative rope detailing running down the inside of each.
The locket is complete with rims and windows within along with a wonderful hand-coloured photograph of a lady in traditional Victorian clothing.
Hand-coloured photographs became popular during the Victorian era and were often hand-coloured with paints, oils and water colours to enhance black and white photographs to make them more vivid and life-like.
A fascinating find that has been beautifully preserved over the years. It would look lovely on a Gold chain.
