This fabulous Sterling Silver Victorian Scottish brooch is Circa 1860.
Scottish jewellery was made popular by Queen Victoria as it became a souvenir of her trips to Scotland. From the mid 1800's Queen Victoria frequented Scotland and her Scottish Castle Balmoral.
Set with colourful plaid Agates around the outer gallery and complimented with a central Agate shield and finished with a silver engraved buckle.
Agate is a strong mineral sometimes known as the earth rainbow for it’s patterned texture that shows varying colours the earth can produce.
The brooch is substantial and of good weight displaying pristine workmanship from it’s time.
All set in Sterling Silver and complete with original pin and C catch.
Purchased in London and steeped in Scottish history.
Looks fabulous when worn, a great talking piece.
Weighs 15 grams.
Measures 43mm across x 52mm down.
The Shield measures 21mm across x 27mm down.
