A grand and characterful antique Victorian Albert chain, composed of distinctive “stars and bars” links with substantial interlocking sections, each richly ornamented with engraved star motifs and finely pierced decoration to the sides.
The chain appears to have undergone restoration during its lifetime, with newer ring links and dog clips added at each end to extend the overall length to 17.5 inches. Suspended below is a classic T-bar bearing the mark of N.C. Reading & Co and stamped “Albo Silver”. While it cannot be confirmed whether the chain itself is crafted from the same alloy, the marks on the bar indicate a late 19th-century Birmingham origin and align closely with the style and period of the piece, suggesting that these elements may be original.
Wonderfully versatile, this substantial Albert may be worn as originally intended as a distinguished watch chain or reimagined as an opulent collar necklace for contemporary styling.
