Details
This beautifully revived antique Victorian Albert chain is composed of solid sterling silver curb links, each stamped with the British lion passant. It retains one of its original dog clips by W.W. Cashmore, hallmarked 1897 – the same year of Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee - and has been thoughtfully updated with a new ring attachment, complete with a matching antique T-bar and a large shield medallion.
Once belonging to a refined Victorian gentleman, this Albert chain was both a practical and fashionable accessory, traditionally worn across a waistcoat and paired with a pocket watch or decorative fob. The medallion is particularly striking, featuring intricate Rococo foliage and a Neo-Gothic silhouette, framing a glowing rose gold-fronted shield on each side. It was hallmarked in Birmingham in 1901, and likely worn to commemorate the accession of King Edward VII.
This collectable antique watch chain measures 19.5 inches and has a pleasing weight and a beautifully smooth patina, developed gracefully over time. A thoughtfully revived piece of British heritage, it can be worn proudly again in the traditional manner across a waistcoat or reimagined as a striking statement necklace for modern styling and layering.
