Product Details
A remarkable antique Arts and Crafts pendant adorned with six large cabochon turquoise, six deep red garnets, sixteen pink pastes and two lustrous natural made pearls, one bulging from the centre and the other dangling from a dropper at the bottom.
The Arts & Crafts movement advocated a revival of traditional handicrafts in the late 19th century and used romantic, folk decoration with an influx of colour and sparkle to counteract the rather mechanised industrialisation of modern design.
Each turquoise has a rugged, aged charm displaying shades of blue, green and turquoise with the stone’s natural patterns and veins, known as matrix showing through on the surface. They’re all bezel set in a substantial base metal gallery with an ornate, open-work design, decorated with scrolling motifs and rope edging.
It’s an extravagant piece, a one of a kind antique find displaying exquisite workmanship and a spectacular assortment of gems.
